We all know that in India only two things make people go crazy, Movies and Cricket. Considering this, Hollywood does not want to leave any stone untouched. They very well understand the demand and Love that Indian audiences showcase towards Hollywood films.
Market share of Hollywood films in India is around 15% and is expected to grow further. So whats the secret behind it? Lets find out !
A week before release, Recently Disney's "Jungle book" had its release 1 week before its release in US, But this is not the first time they did it. Movies like "Avengers: Age of Ultron", Journey 2, Hobbit:3 released a week before releasing in US seeing the market demand.
Amrita Pandey, vice-president and head, marketing and distribution (studios), Disney India says that the decision to advance the release of Jungle Book in India had multiple reasons. “April first week is when most schools get done with exams. We wanted to capture maximum summer vacation time at the theaters. Also, being Jungle Book, the film’s story has a longstanding bond with India, and we wanted to make the most of it.”
100 Cr club For Hollywood films : Recently released Jungle book had to clash with YRF's SRK starer FAN but it did not harm collections of Jungle book. On the other hand FAN failed to attract audiences to the theaters and failed miserably. FAN Collected around 80Crs Net at BO. whereas Jungle book is still running (week 6) and so far collected 178 crs at Indian BO.
This is not the only case where collections of Bollywood films got affected by Hollywood flick, "Caption America : Civil war" had a clash with Bollywood films such as "One night Stand, Traffic , Baaghi and 1920 London". Still Friday BO figures and total earnings of Caption America: Civil war are far more compared to these films.
Today's release "X-MEN: Apocalypse" also opened at about 50% at the box office even after having a clash with Aishwarya starer "Sarbjit"
Apart from this Hollywood is also going local to capture remaining Indian market by dubbing their films into Telugu and Tamil, Hindi languages.
To engage the audience further, they also trying to rope in Bollywood stars like Irfan Khan (Jurassic World and Many) , Anil kapoor (Mission Impossible and Slumdog millionaire )
Recently released "Caption America: Civil War" Varun Dhawan was roped in to give a voice to the main character of Caption America.
So with all this we can only say one thing that "Hollywood's Gain is Bollywood's Loss" isn't it ?
